The Silent Years Part II
(1993-1994)

During this time (1993), history came to see the first peak of the legendary network of Kerrinne's known as the Underground RhyDin. She had so many people in her employ from various locations that is was said for every kingdom that existed, Kerrinne had four spies. It was a close guess, even if it was meant to be an exaggeration. She had three spies during the pinnacle of this time for every kingdom that existed in or intermingled with RhyDin.

Quickly she rose to the height of political power, not by filling elected or official seats in the government, but rather by word of mouth. Most people knew of her, and when people knew of you in RhyDin in those days they tended to already feel some sort of kinship with you. No one knew better how to manipulate this situation to an advantage than did Kerrinne.

She met a man one evening named Merlin de Dubar. He was a Grey Wizard, the highest of his order. A most revered wizard in the mage society, and one highly sought after for the power he commanded with the legendary Golden Staff of RhyDin. Kerrinne had long an intrigue with magic, even if she did not believe herself able to wield it; and she also missed her father. She had always shared a strong bond with him while she was growing up. So it was that she had Merlin fulfill both of these intrigues and needs, by placing him as her best friend and father figure in RhyDin.

Eventually, he managed to bring her about to understand not only magic, but her own capabilities within the sphere of magic. For two years he was her mentor and her best friend, and she studied very diligently under his tutelage. Her love life was nil at this point, as she had delved completely into her studies and her work with the Underground. Though the UR started to wane and falter (1994) with the dimensional rift* that was created in RhyDin. Kerrinne's heart was broken to watch all she had built up in this dimension crumble into obscurity, and she and Merlin had decided to traverse the rift into the new RhyDin.

However, before this could happen - Merlin was slain in a death match** in front of Kerrinne by his arch nemesis, Darlain Mouier. It shook her to the core of her foundation to lose him, and she nearly forgot where she was as she watched him fall. There in the den of Merlin's enemy, she stood until Darlain's hard gaze fell on her. She was his apprentice, and Darlain would want her dead too. That day she did manage to flee, first going to Merlin's place to collect his library, components, potions, weapons, and anything else she could find. She stored them away safely at Ivory, which she had pitted between both dimensional RhyDins. One last time she snuck back into the old dimension and dug up the remains of her friend Merlin that were crudely buried by Darlain. It would be difficult to carry remains between dimensions, so Kerrinne cremated his body. Then took the ashes with her.

She spent many years holed up in Ivory (1994-1995***). Some say she actually went insane at this point of her life. Indeed, some elderly servants that are still alive at Ivory today will tell you that when she wasn't in her library, her lab, or her study working, reading, or starving herself that she was busy pacing up and down the hallways of Ivory talking in sign language to ghosts.
